7/15 - Mayors update on COVID-19 Response

Writing with some recent updates on the State's COVID-19 response:

  • Homlessness Prevention: Yesterday Governor Ducey announced a plan to distribute $5.95 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) program to organizations that support Arizonans in need and combat homelessness. Details are available here
  • Testing: ADHS, along with DEMA and the US Department of Health and Human Services, announced a new partnership to conduct free community-based diagnostic testing at two sites in Phoenix beginning on July 17 and running for 12 days. A total of 5,000 people can be tested per day at these two sites. Additional information is available here
  • Risk index and social media: AZDHS has added several new tools as part of its public awareness campaign, including a risk-index chart that shows activities based on risk during COVID-19. Resources are available here and are great to share with your constituents via social media.
  • Small Business Financial Support: The Arizona Commerce Authority has reorganized its index of financial resources for small businesses for small businesses. This includes resources at the federal, state, and local level. If there are any local financial assistance programs that are not listed, please let me know and we can add them.
