Welcome

On behalf of the firefighters of the South Tucson Fire Department, we welcome you to our home page! The South Tucson Fire Department is comprised of two full time Fire Captains, one covers "A shift" and the other "B shift". The third shift (C shift) is covered my a Reserve Captain or Driver/Operator Lead. There are a total of 32 paid reserve firefighters that fill the schedule, many who work full-time at other agencies in the Tucson metro area. The South Tucson Fire Department has an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the City of Tucson Fire Department. Tucson Fire Stations 1 and 10 provide backup services on structure fires under the IGA for South Tucson. City of South Tucson fire apparatus consist of one "front line" and one reserve truck. Medical transport services are provided by AMR Medical Transportation, and Banner-University Medical Center South is the department's base hospital.  All South Tucson Firefighters possess the required credentials and training to be certified as a Firefighters in the State of Arizona, to include Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Paramedic.

The South Tucson Fire Department is housed in the same government complex as the police department. Firefighters and police officers work side-by-side on many calls within the City of South Tucson community, and have a professional relationship that many fire and police departments do not possess, one of camaraderie and trust. Every South Tucson Firefighter is committed to serving the South Tucson community with the compassion, care and professionalism that it deserves. City of South Tucson firefighters participate with many community events such as the South Tucson Shoe and Jacket Drive, the Fire Department Christmas Toy Drive, and the Healthy South Tucson Back-to-School Backpack Drive. They also give presentations and safety tips to students at Mission View and Ochoa Elementary Schools.
