Civil Traffic Citations

For all civil traffic offenses you may:

  1. Pay the fine amount ON OR BEFORE your APPEARANCE DATE by paying the fine amount, plus the court case processing fee, in full.  You are pleading responsible to the charge(s) on the complaint and the case will be closed.  Payments accepted by:
    • Click on PAYING THE FINE BY MAIL [EN] [SP] for a printable form for mailing in your preferred language.
    • Appear at the court, or call 520-917-1569, between 8:00am and 4:00pm, Monday-Friday.
    • Online at www.azcourtpay.com  There will be a $5.00 processing fee for online payments.
  2. Attend Defensive Driving School (DDS) at least seven (7) days PRIOR TO your APPEARANCE DATE.  If you are eligible and complete the school to the satisfaction of the Defensive Driving School and Supreme Court requirements, your traffic violation will be dismissed.  Eligible schools can be found at www.azdrive.com
  3. Request a Civil Traffic Hearing ON OR BEFORE your APPEARANCE DATE. You are pleading not responsible to the charge on the complaint.  A hearing may be set by:
    • Click on SETTING A HEARING BY MAIL [EN] [SP] and follow the instructions. 
    • Appear at the court between 8:00am and 4:30pm, Monday-Friday.

FAILURE TO RESPOND by the APPEARANCE DATE on a CIVIL TRAFFIC complaint will result in a default judgment being entered against you. A civil fine amount in accordance with the fine schedule, plus applicable court costs and default fees, will be imposed.  The Department of Motor Vehicles (MVD) will be notified. Your case will be sent to a collection agency and additional fees will be assessed. 

NOTE: A.R.S 8-323D requires the parent, guardian or custodian of the juvenile (person under the age of 18) to appear in court with the juvenile at the time of the APPEARANCE DATE.
